When Loom is worth paying for
Loom's paid plans give you instant share links, comments and reactions, viewer insights, transcripts and captions, trimming and stitching, and (on Business + AI) automatic titles, summaries and chapters. If your team sends links and wants to see who watched, that is what you pay for.
When you don't need to pay
If people mostly record a walkthrough and drop the file into Slack, Drive, a ticket or an LMS, a local recorder covers it. Bobbin is a free Chrome extension that records your screen, a window or a tab with a webcam bubble and saves an MP4 on your computer: no account, no watermark, no time limit and no video limit, up to 1080p at 30 fps. Optional Pro is $4.99/month or $24 once (founding price) for 4K/60 fps where your screen and computer support it, bubble styling, auto-stop and custom file names.
Bobbin doesn't host videos or make share links, and it has no editing, transcripts, comments, viewer analytics, team workspace or mobile app.
