Windows 11
Snipping Tool (Win+Shift+R) records the whole screen or an area, with optional mic and system audio, and saves to Videos → Screen Recordings. Xbox Game Bar (Win+Alt+R) records the app you're in and saves MP4 files to Videos → Captures; it doesn't record the desktop or File Explorer. More: Windows 11 screen recording with webcam.
Mac
Shift+Command+5 opens Screenshot, where you choose to record the entire screen, a window or a portion, and pick a microphone under Options. More: screen record on Mac with sound.
Chromebook
Shift+Ctrl+Show windows opens Screen capture. Choose Screen record, pick an area, and stop with Search+Shift+X. More: Chromebook screen recording with audio.
In Chrome (Bobbin)
Start from the Bobbin icon (a 3-second countdown gives you time to switch windows). While recording, Alt+Shift+P pauses and resumes and Alt+Shift+S stops. These work while Chrome is focused. To change them, open chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Chrome's own "Stop sharing" button also stops the recording.
